July 4th is approaching this Tuesday, and it’s the perfect time to plan a weekend getaway with the family. There are a few locations that are within driving distance and are completely affordable. If you’re itching to get out of town, then why not make a trip out to one of Georgia’s many State Parks? They’re beautiful, inexpensive, and hosting some exciting Independence Day events this year.

For an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration, make a trip out to Lawrence S. Walker State Park. From 9 am to 12 pm, there will be old-fashioned games, free watermelon, and free cookies. Have fun in the great outdoors! Parking is $5, but this event is also free.
